Orthotics

Rehabilitation

A variety of conditions, ranging from lower limb injuries to low back pain to biomechanical movement alteration, can be detrimental to one's quality of life.

Individuals suffering from these types of conditions would benefit from a full gait (walking) analysis and lower limb alignment/kinematic (movement) assessment by certified clinicians at our Centre.

Important components of this evaluation involve observing the stationary and dynamic movements of the arch of the foot.

Your foot posture (high-arched, neutral arched or low-arched) can contribute to pain or dysfunction along the entire lower limb kinetic chain (feet, ankles, knees, hips, and low back). Foot posture is thought to affect injury risk, specifically during sporting activities, although research states that this mechanism remains unclear.

Orthotics are thought to treat or prevent lower limb injuries by providing cushioning and support for the foot. Custom-made orthotics are able to support your specific foot imbalance, and guide proper foot alignment. These orthotics are made from an imprint of your feet, and specific alternations can be made to accommodate every individual foot, i.e. a heel cushion for heel spurs.

Here is a list of conditions where orthotics may be indicated: Achilles Tendonitis, Iliotibial Band Syndrome, Metatarsalgia, Morton's Neuroma, Plantar Fasciitis, Runner's Knee, Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome, Shin Splints.
